The Bleach Test: How to Prove Hair Is Unprocessed Before You Pay
Every vendor says their hair is raw. The bleach test is how you stop taking their word for it. It costs a few grams of product and a few minutes — and it exposes processed hair instantly.
How We Run It
Nothing exotic: we use ordinary salon lightening powder — the same product any colorist has on the shelf — mixed with developer and applied to a strand taken from the actual bundle in question. Then we watch it lift, on camera if you are on a video call with us.
The Three Things to Watch
- 1. Hidden dye. Truly virgin hair has no colorant in it. If the lift reveals bleeding tones, patchy bands or an odd cast, the hair was dyed at some point — whatever the listing claimed.
- 2. How easily it lifts. Healthy unprocessed hair takes lift smoothly and evenly. Iranian hair has an extra advantage here: its natural brown-to-light base means fewer sessions to reach blonde — less chemical stress than black hair.
- 3. Condition after the lift. This is the real verdict. Raw hair with intact cuticles comes out of a bleach bath strong and workable. Acid-stripped, silicone-coated "raw" hair falls apart — the coating that made it shiny washes out and the damage underneath shows.
